How to gear up for fishing?

If you’re looking for the right Sea-Doo FISHPRO gear for a day of fishing on just about any body of water, you’ve come to the right place. Any fishing enthusiast knows proper preparation is key to a successful day.  We know you’re probably familiar with your favorite rod and reel, tackle and bait for the fish you’re after. For now, we’ll focus on the areas of safety, protection and function with a few pieces of can’t-miss gear that will elevate your next FISHPRO adventures.

Find the perfect fishing PFD

When we talk about personal watercraft fishing gear, the number-one item is your personal flotation device (PFD). It’s legally required to wear one any time you’re operating your personal watercraft. If you’re out for a day of fishing, that means you’ll be wearing it for a while, so it had better be comfortable and durable to withstand long hours on the water. And you want it to have some functionality to it as well: a place to keep items like pliers, extra tackles and other easily accessible gear goes a long way.

The Sea-Doo Explorer PFD takes all this into account to create the perfect fishing PFD. Its heavy-duty ripstop nylon material stands up to the elements while the large arm holes provide excellent comfort and range of motion for casting, jigging, trolling and more. Ingeniously designed features make life on the water more enjoyable with pockets for storing those items you use most, a POV camera mount, as well as designated space for handheld VHF radios and a safety whistle. There isn’t a smarter fishing PFD on the water.

Protection from the elements

Staying comfortable, dry and protected from the sun is another critical element of Sea-Doo fishing gear. Sunscreen is a great place to start, but hands covered in sunscreen and fishing tackles can be a slippery combo. Plus, the sun isn’t the only element you’ll want to shield against.

Wearing something like a Sea-Doo UV 50 Rashguard shirt is the ideal solution. It’s lightweight, keeps your skin out of the sun and won’t leave you having to repeatedly lather on sunscreen. It also keeps you protected from wind and saltwater spray when you’re moving from spot to spot.

Warm weather is great, but the hardcore fishing enthusiasts will take on any weather. That’s why it’s a good idea to have something like the Explorer Riding Jacket too. Its 3/2mm neoprene design will keep you warm and protected from wind, rain and cooler temps.

Other items that cover you as much as possible include a wide-brim hat, lightweight neck gaiter or a Sea-Doo fishing rashguard that combines a neck and face covering. And don’t leave home without those sunglasses or goggles for chasing across the water.

Better function on the water

There are a few other items of personal watercraft fishing gear you’ll want to consider that take any Sea-Doo day to the next level. Your hands and feet are your connection to the water when you’re riding, so keeping them comfortable, protected and functional is a top priority.

A pair of riding gloves will help you keep a good grip on the handlebars — especially in wet conditions — and protect the back of your hands from wind and sunburn. They’ve got great dexterity for operating rods, reels and buttons on your Sea-Doo.

Riding boots give you that extra grip you need to feel confident while moving about your personal watercraft or running across the waves. They’ll also keep your feet and ankles protected when riding, beaching and docking or even help you navigate those slippery boat ramps with confidence.

We hope these quick tips can help you make even more memories on your next fishing experience. Remember to check out the Sea-Doo Owner’s Zone on our website for more awesome riding tips. Ready to enjoy your Sea-Doo life? We’ll see you on water!
