MUST HAVE OF THE WEEK: Sea-Doo Boxes and Bags — Get Organized for the Season

Sea-Doo time (or summer) is just around the corner and now is the time to prep for the season.  We hope you have taken the time to read Dr. Doo’s post on Pre Season Fuel Care and the blog on Pre-Season prep for your Sea-Doo.  Now it is time to get organized.

Dry BagRemember last season when you got soaked and wanted to stop by your favorite restaurant for a bite to eat?  Wouldn’t it have been nice to have a dry shirt or shoes to put on (since shirts and shoes are required by most eating establishments)?  We recommend carrying a dry set of clothes in your Sea-Doo Dry Bag. These bags are watertight and made of puncture-resistant PVC coated polyester fiber materials.  They have a reinforced bottom and are designed to keep everything dry.

Sea-Doo glove boxes are roomy and designed to keep multiple items safe during your ride. Many people keep their cell phones, keys,GLove box organizer sunglasses, boater’s safety license, registration, etc., in it.  Once you place all of these items in the glove box, they tend to shuffle around when you are shredding and carving.  Our solution is a Sea-Doo Glove Box Organizer.  The Glove Box organizer fits all models with S3 Hulls and iS models.  It is a semi-rigid splash-resistant, portable case.  The liner cushions the inside of the glove box and provides insulation.  The case fits perfectly in the glove box and provides easy access when opening the glove box cover. Bonus! When you dock or are heading home, you can grab the case and easily take all of the items with you.

AFront storage trayfter jumping in the water to cool off or beaching at your favorite island destination, you will likely have a wet towel (or two), wet rope, snacks, etc.  The Sea-Doo Front Storage Tray is the perfect solution to safely storing these items in one place while underway.  This storage tray has a cargo handle and can store up to 3.2 gallons of ‘stuff’.  Plus, it lifts out (and in) easily for transportation.  The Front Storage Tray fits the 2012 and newer Sea-Doo RXP-X 260, GTI, GTS 2011 and newer and GTR 2012 and newer.

Check out all of these Sea-Doo organization boxes and bags online store or visit your local dealer and they can help you get prepared for an organized day on the water!

Do you have any organizational tips? Anything you LOVE that helps you keep your on-water life as organized as your off-water life?

X-TEAM TUESDAY – BUSHELL COMES TO AMERICA TO RACE SEA-DOO RXP-X ON US NATIONAL TOUR

WORLD CHAMPION JAMES BUSHELL TO COMPETE IN UNITED STATES IJSBA NATIONAL RACING TOUR ABOARD HIS SEA-DOO RXP-X WATERCRAFT

SONY DSC

James Bushell is coming to America to compete in the US National Tour

Valcourt, QC, CANADA  –  BRP is proud to announce that multiple watercraft racing World Champion, James Bushell will be competing on the 2013 US IJSBA National Tour aboard his 158-Performance backed Sea-Doo RXP-X.

Bushell of the UK has won back-to-back IJSBA PRO Open and PRO GP World Championships in 2011 and 2012 since teaming with legendary Sea-Doo tuner Les Cooke of Australia’s Sea-Doo Centre. Bushell will compete in the PRO Open class aboard a modified Sea-Doo RXP-X in all seven 2013 tour rounds. Bushell has competed around the world including Europe, Dubai, Thailand, and others and has dedicated his 2013 season to challenging the best of the United States.

“I want to come to the United States to win the PRO Open Championship,” explains Bushell. “I want to race in the US against other former National Champions, help promote the sport, and bring another Championship to BRP on my Sea-Doo RXP-X from Sea-Doo Centre.”

Bushell is no newcomer to winning championships with a long and impressive resume as he looks to complete his long list of racing accomplishments by contesting the US National Tour. He was an integral part in the launch of the new Sea-Doo RXP-X platform in 2012 as he was the featured talent for print and video promotional materials. Bushell also teamed with Les Cooke early in 2011 to develop the racing elements of the Sea-Doo T3 hull that would later shock the world with two dominating performances at the IJSBA World Finals in October of that year.

The Sea-Doo RXP-X is equipped with designs and technologies that make every rider a better rider. The exclusive Sea-Doo T3 hull design tracks straighter through choppy conditions and combined with the Ergolock system, allows the rider to turn tighter with less effort. These exclusive BRP designs and the power of the Rotax 4-TEC Supercharged HO marine engine give the rider a clear performance advantage.  Riders can utilize the power more efficiently in all areas of high performance riding minimizing fatigue, cornering faster and seemingly shortening the racetrack compared to the competition.

SONY DSC“I am coming to the US to show that Sea-Doo watercraft are the best PWC on the market and to shake things up as some other racers have won the tour for too many years. I want to win!” concluded Bushell.

James Bushell will be basing out of Greensboro, North Carolina traveling with the Optima Racing team. His 2013 efforts will be supported by; 158 Performance, Sea-Doo Centre, Jet Tribe, and SB Components

Dr. Doo: Pre-Season Fuel System Care

2013 Sea-Doo GTX Ltd iS-Action7 resized for blog

As we get closer and closer to spring, many of you are getting ready to get back out on the water.  Presuming that you conducted proper winterization and are working on pre-season preparation techniques, now it is time to ensure that your Sea-Doo is primed and ready for use.

If your Sea-Doo has been in storage for more than two months, we recommend taking the time to ensure your fuel system is clean and in good shape so that your first ride back on the water is exactly the ride you’ve been dreaming of!

Before you stored your watercraft, we hope you followed winterizing or storage procedures and are starting with a full tank of gas.  These procedures can be modified depending on your starting fuel level.

Steps to fuel system care:

1. Verify fuel system: Check fuel hoses for leaks and damaged hose clamps. If you smell fuel you will need to trace the source of the leak using your hands and/or fingers.  Ensure you inspect your fuel cap for cracks or leaks.

brp fuel stabilizer2. Add a fuel stabilizer to the tank, we recommend BRP’s Fuel Stabilizer, Part No. 413408601, 8 oz.  This stabilizer will help prevent fuel contamination and residue build up in carburetor, fuel injection system and gas lines.  This stabilizer should always be used before storing your watercraft for a long period of time and is suitable for all gasoline engines. If you do not have a full tank, we recommend adding the stabilizer before you fill your tank.

3. After you add fuel stabilizer, fill the gas tank completely.  The primary reason is to ensure no water is inside the fuel tank from condensation build up during storage. Should any water be trapped inside the fuel tank, severe damage could occur to the fuel system.  When fueling, be sure to keep the watercraft on a level surface.  Do not overfill or top off the fuel tank and leave the watercraft in the sun. When temperatures increase fuel expands and this could cause the gasoline to overflow.

Don’t forget about ECO mode when you are maintaining your Sea-Doo fuel system. ECO mode is an exclusive feature of Sea-Doo watercraft that helps you stay out on the water longer by automatically determining the most economical power delivery for the greatest fuel economy.

Once you have cleaned and protected your fuel system, you are ready for the first ride of the season!

X-TEAM TUESDAY – BEACH AND BOARDS FEST – QUIK TOW-AT SURFING

Personal watercraft and surfing have become connected in a manner unthought of not so long ago. Surfing is a soulful sport, arguably pegging the “cool” factor, with guys and girls using the power of mother nature to provide them with walking on water ride. It was in the very late ’80s when some stand-up personal watercraft riders were hanging out with some big gun surfers in Hawaii when they tried a little experiment. Surfing has been a sport in the Pacific islands for hundreds of years and has rapidly progressed as has the innovation of the equipment, mainly the use of foam and fiberglass. Surfers were pushing the limits of whats possible but physical limitations still held them back from some of the best breaks in the world.

The paddle to the good breaks were near impossible and getting in the right spot, and out of the wrong spot, was overcome by the next progression in surfing technology, the personal watercraft. In Hawaii surfers were being pulled into waves that they would normally not be able to reach of paddle fast enough to catch and the sport of Tow-in Surfing was born. In fact it has come so far, professional big wave rider, Garrett McNamarra only two months ago rode the first 100-foot wave after being pulled in by a Sea-Doo RXT-X in Portugal. These guys trust their lives with the reliability of Sea-Doo watercraft, as with out them, surfing these watery skyscrapers would be next to impossible.

The United States East Coast Surf scene is different. The Atlantic Ocean usually provides smaller swells to those in Florida waters to New York. On the Atlantic side, the challenge was how to catch much smaller waves, waves that don’t always break consistently in the same spot forcing surfers to paddle back and forth to catch the good sets. Sea-Doo watercraft have been utilized to grow the sport of Tow-At surfing where Sea-Doo WAKE models are used to tow surfers to the breaks where they can ride the wave faster than normal and pull off big arial tricks they could never do by simply paddling.

This past weekend in Cocoa Beach, Florida the Beach and Boards fest sponsored by Quicksilver took place and some of the best East coast surfers took to the air in the QUIK Tow-At. Competitors were treated to a perfect day with head high waves in temperatures in the upper 70-degree range. Tow-At surfing has grown in popularity with famous Florida breed surfing brothers including the Slater brothers, Lopez brothers, and the Hobgoods. Sea-Doo watercraft has been an integral part of that sports growth and will continue to help these wave riders push their sport to new heights.

I’ve been all over Florida with my Sea Doo and I have to say this is my favorite place to go.

MUST HAVE OF THE WEEK: The Right Eye Protection

Riding your Sea-Doo on the water is akin to riding your Can-Am Spyder Roadster on a long winding road. The rush of the wind is exhilarating, but also can make visibility difficult. Our recommendation for a solution is ensuring you have the proper eyewear.  The proper eyewear will both ensure you, and your passengers, safety as well as protect your eyes from the water, wind and sun.  Goggles or sunglasses will help you maintain a clear view at all times.

2013 Sea-Doo Riding GogglesOur Sea-Doo Amphibious riding Goggles are made from super strong, lightweight material. They are soft and flexible and conform to the shape of any face.  The lens provides 100% UV protection and is suspended for anti-fog performance. They also feature a goggle-to-PFD attachment cord to help prevent loss.  However, if they are not attached or they break free, they float!

Bomber Eyewear are specifically designed to compliment a water-based active lifestyle. This eyewear fit snugly with a patented non-grip slip foam lining, and will also float if they fall into the water.

Next time you are headed out to the water, when you grab your PFD, also grab your protective eyewear…trust us, you’ll thank us!
