Dear Sea-Doo® Sport Boat Dealer,
This Safety Recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Coast Guard, which will monitor its effectiveness, and Transport Canada, in Canada.
What is the reason for this notice?In cooperation with Transport Canada and the U.S. Coast Guard, Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. and BRP US Inc. (“BRP“) are conducting a voluntary safety recall of all Sea-Doo sport boats equipped with ROTAX naturally aspirated, 155 hp, 4-TEC engine, model year 2003 to 2007, as specified in the attached Safety Campaign Bulletin.
What is the potential problem?Some pieces of the air box may detach. This may allow broken pieces to be drawn to the throttle body and in some cases, could prevent the throttle plate from returning completely to idle position, potentially leading to an unexpected failure to decelerate when the throttle lever is returned to the idle position. This situation could cause a collision with bystanders, a fixed object or another vehicle and potentially cause serious injuries or even death.
What will BRP do?BRP has already sent a Safety Recall letter to all known registered owners of these vehicles. This letter urges that the owners immediately stop using their vehicle and contact their BRP dealer to get their vehicle repaired. Also, BRP posted this notice and attached Safety Campaign Bulletin on its BOSSWeb dealer website (www.bossweb.brp.com) and on its public web site (www.sea-doo.com).
