On some boats, the fuel tank may have been damaged, either drilled or marked, during the assembly process and may allow fuel and/or fuel vapor to leak into the boat's bilge. If such leakage occurs, combined with a spark or a flame, fuel vapors may ignite - resulting in fire or explosion.
In rough water conditions, the storage cover may break around its hinge. This could cause the storagecover to dislodge and hit the operator and/or passenger resulting in personal injury or loss of control.
