Re: Fuel Tank Leak

Dear Sea-Doo™ Boat Owner, This notice is being sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the United States Coast Guard, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the California Air Resources Board, Transport Canada and Environment Canada. Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. and BRP US Inc. (“BRP“) are conducting a voluntary safety recall on certain Sea-Doo™ Boats of the models below.

What is the potential problem?

On some boats, the fuel tank may have been damaged, either drilled or marked, during the assembly process and may allow fuel and/or fuel vapor to leak into the boat's bilge. If such leakage occurs, combined with a spark or a flame, fuel vapors may ignite - resulting in fire or explosion. This situation can potentially cause serious injuries or even death to occupants or bystanders.

What should you do?

Immediately stop using your boat and contact an authorized BRP Sea-Doo™ Boat dealer and make an appointment to have your boat inspected. If the inspection shows that the fuel tank is damaged, your dealer will inform you of the remedy process. This work will be performed at no charge to you.

What to do if you feel this notice is an error?

This notice was mailed to you according to the most current information we have available. If you no longer own this boat or some information in this notice is incorrect, please contact BRP at your earliest convenience. If you had this inspection performed before you received this letter, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall.

Please also note that a damaged fuel tank may cause the boat to release air pollutants exceeding the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California and Environment Canada standards and failing a state or local emissions inspection.

As defined in Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations, the California Code of Regulations and the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, as a manufacturer, we are also required to correct vehicles that may be emitting pollutants in excess of emission standards. These emission standards were established to protect the public health or welfare from air pollution.

Your continued satisfaction with your Sea-Doo™ Boat is important to us. Please understand that we have taken this action in the interest of your safety and your boat's proper operation.
