May 18, 2010 – Panama City Beach, Florida - BRP’s Sea-Doo X-TEAM watercraft racer Eric Lagopoulos accomplished a very rare trifecta at the opening round of the UWP Toyota National Tour in Panama City Beach, Florida winning the Pro Open, Pro Stock and Pro 800 runabout classes. The veteran rider from Long Boat Key, Florida used his knowledge of the Gulf of Mexico to negotiate his Sea-Doo RXP-X watercraft through choppy waters to win the three closed-course racing events. Lagopoulos collected $2500 for his three wins plus another $460 bonus in Sea-Doo X-TEAM Bounty contingency funds.
Citing the need for maximum control and reliability, Lagopoulos choose to ride his stock Sea-Doo RXP-X watercraft in the open class against a field of much more highly modified watercraft to win the premier class.
“The water conditions were really rough,” said an elated Lagopoulos. “BRP’s Sea-Doo RXP-X worked perfect in the conditions as I always felt in complete control; knowing exactly what the PWC was going to do. I was able to focus on going as fast I could, which was key to winning today. Winning all three Pro runabout classes, collecting a big purse, and earning Sea-Doo X-TEAM Bounty money is a dream race day.”
Bradenton, Florida rider Troy Snyder finished in second place in the Pro Stock class aboard his Neptune Racing prepped Sea-Doo RXP-X watercraft. Snyder backed up his previous weekend win in Tavares, FL with a solid performance heading into the heart of the 2010 racing season.
The next month holds three key racing events on the national level as the APBA National Tour takes to the Atlantic Surf with a visit to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on June 5-6 and the UWP Toyota National Tour makes its second stop in Syracuse, New York on May 29-30 and third stop in Racine, Wisconsin on June 19-20.
